What can I say about our dreamy maternity session of these two?  From the moment they drove up, and he got out of the car first, gave me a huge smile, and opened the door for his beautiful wife, this maternity session was nothing more than a dream.

The Location.

Friends- when I say explore Virginia, and you see a sign for a trail, walk it.  You never know when you’ll find a beautiful and historic home with a tree lined drive with gorgeous views everywhere.  I was a bit worried about shooting here because there is a little walk (the driveway) to the home but the walk up was gorgeous, and tree lined with just the right amount of light pouring in for one set of pictures. The once corn fields had been mowed and tiny baby spinaches were growing giving a soft green glow in the background of some of our pictures.  Might be soy also, I don’t know my baby veggies. 

The couple.

These two were as sweet as they were photogenic.  Although Hunter said he was not in fact photogenic, his amazing and joyful smile in every picture said otherwise.  Emma was absolutely radiant, with her perfect hair (yes, I am a tad jealous), killed it in every picture, she even wore my floral crowns I had made and looked like a princess from a fairy tale. We talked about their life, relationship, and their baby girl they are expecting, life and joked a lot.  I may have karate kicked a couple of times because every single picture was golden.  The love they have was literally visible through my camera.

The outfits.

These are the amazing results you get when the style guide is followed, dreamy, light and airy images where your outfits complement you and don’t compete for attention. Emma’s dress is from 2 Hearts 1 Dress in downtown Fredericksburg and was the perfect summery look, and Hunter’s outfit was a great color combination and looked amazing with Emma’s dress!

The sun and the pictures.

When we say golden hour is the best time to shoot, please believe us!  We will shoot at less golden-y hours, and we will also love every moment of it, but goodness, God knew what he was doing when he had the sun soften and make everything just more calm right before nightfall.  We wrapped up before blue hour, because in the woods, it is very fleeting so we kept that light and airy look we all know and love.  These pictures I hope captured their joy for their new bundle on her way and love for each other.  We have some absolute favorites, send us a message on Instagram and let us know yours!
